Gilbert 'John' Carter

Gilbert "John" Carter, 63, of 2830 32nd St. S., Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, May 29, 2006, at the
Strawberry Lane Medical & Rehabilitation Center.

Lutheran Church. The Rev. Timothy Wenger will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with
military rites by the VFW Post No. 2534.

Gilbert was born on Jan. 5, 1943, in Casper, Wyo., to Ottis E. and Ada G. (Metcalf) Carter. His first
marriage took place to Constance Jean Leist on Sept. 17, 1969, in Casper, Wyo. She died in 1985. His
second marriage, to Susan Royston on June 24, 1987, in Basin, Wyo., ended in divorce. His third
marriage was to Janice Mary Kromenaker Sept. 20, 2004, in Wisconsin Rapids.

He served in the U. S. Navy from March 21, 1962, to Dec. 19, 1969. In 1975, he joined the Army National
Guard and served with the 3/49th Field Service Battery out of Douglas, Wyo. and remained a member
until 1987 when he received his 20-year retirement.

He was manager of the town of Mills Water Treatment Plant in Mills, Wyo.

Survivors include wife, Janice Mary Carter, Wisconsin Rapids; two daughters, Rachel Brooks and
Susan Carter, both of Kalispell, Mont.; stepchild, Lisa (Rusty) Greene, Wisconsin Rapids; four sisters,
Karen (James) Parker, Georgetown, Ky., Garnet (Duane) Ackerman, Thornton, Colo., Vicki (Sterling)
Leist, League City, Texas, and Joan Smardan, Cardiff, Calif.; one brother, Gregory (Robin) Carter,
Cheyenne, Wyo.; and two stepgrandchildren.

Visitation will be at St. Luke's Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
